Teddy Liaw is a UC Berkeley alum and CEO of NexRep who founded GLO in 2012 after witnessing inefficiencies in campus leadership. Drawing from his experience as a student leader, nonprofit founder, and executive, he created a hands-on curriculum that has empowered aspiring leaders across the US and Taiwan. Today, Teddy continues to prove that true leadership is about action and impact through his businesses, community initiatives, and legislative efforts.
A Timeline of Milestones
2012
- GLO founded by Teddy at UC Berkeley, where the first GLO Summit was held.
- First Summit at Columbia University, expanding GLO’s impact beyond Berkeley.
2013
- First GLO Summit held at IBSH (International Bilingual School at Hsinchu), introducing leadership education to high school students in Taiwan.
- GLO Taiwan chapter founded, expanding GLO’s presence beyond the US.
2016
- GLO surpasses 1,000+ alumni, with members leading initiatives in diverse industries.
2018
- First Global Assembly established, expanding GLO’s operational capacity to match our growing programs.
2020
- GLO surpasses 2,000+ alumni, with members leading initiatives in diverse industries.
2021
- Launched Social Impactathon and ECHO Public Speaking Booster, developing students' creative problem-solving skills and English public speaking confidence.
2022
- GLO celebrates 10 years since inception!
2024
- GLO hosted its 50th Leadership Training Summit, 6th Social Impactathon, and 5th ECHO Public Speaking Booster since inception, celebrating over 3,000+ lives impacted and a growing network of changemakers worldwide.

Yes! Although our in-person programming is only in the US and Taiwan, our operational staff members span across Europe, Australia, North America, and Asia. You can also always support us financially!

There are four main ways to be part of GLO:
- Join our programs — Attend our in-person leadership orgrams like the Leadership Training Summit, Social Impactathon, or ECHO.
- Volunteer with us — Contribute your time and skills by serving on a regional chapter team or our Global Assembly.
- Partner with us — Form a strategic partnership.
- Support the cause — Donate to help us grow our impact.
To apply, you must have attended at least one GLO event to receive an invitation for the Staff Team application. However, if you’re interested in becoming a Student Ambassador, prior attendance is not required.
GLO is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your donation helps fund our in-person programs, cover operational costs, and support our mission of developing passionate, skilled social impact leaders.
